A Divya Desam is one of the 108 Maha Vishnu temples that are mentioned in Divya Prabandha, the works of twelve Azhwars (Tamil Vaishnavite saints). Of the 108 temples, 105 are in India, one in Nepal, and last two are celestial abodes, beyond human reach. In India they are spread over states of Tamil Nadu(82), Kerala(13), Andhra Pradesh(2), Gujarat(1), Uttar Pradesh(4), Uttarakhand(3).
