Thiru Kaarvaanam is inside the Ulgalanda Perumal temple

Thiru Kaarvannam, is one of the 108 divya desam temples situated in Kanchipuram. This temple is within the Thiru Ooragam (Ulgalantha Perumal) temple. The legend behind this divya desam is that Kaar, black clouds as Sri Narayana Himself . The clouds give the rain to the world. It is explained that Sriman Narayanan himself is the black clouds which gives the rain for all living things to survive. Hence this perumal is called as "Thirukkaar Vaanakkalvar".

  Moolavar is known as Sri Kalvar facing the west.

Thaayar of the temple is Komalavalli thaayar also known as Thamaraiyaal

The temple is revered by the verses of Tirumangai Alvar

There are 3 other divya desams inside the temple - they are Thirukkaaragam , Thiru Neeragam , Thiru Ooragam.

Temple Timings The temple is open from 6:00 AM till 12 noon and from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm

Kanchipuram is around 75 kms from Chennai off the Chennai Bangalore highway via SriPerumbudur. It is well connected by several bus services from Chennai. There is a railway station in Kanchipuram with a few train services from Chennai in the mornings.
